Not the private tour experience we expected
My friend and I (two female travellers) recently completed a 10-day Ethiopia tour booked as a private tour through this agency. Unfortunately, the experience did not match the expectations created during booking. One concern already arose during the payment process. We were asked to bring almost half of the total tour price in cash, while the remaining balance was requested through three separate bank transfers made over several weeks. In our previous travel experiences, payments were typically handled through one transparent transaction, so this arrangement felt unusual and lacked clarity for us. Although the tour was marketed as private, the reality differed. Due to itinerary changes, travel days, and multiple shared activities with other travelers, only approximately 3.5 full days were actually private in practice. In addition, domestic flights were booked very late and changed without consultation, which reduced sightseeing time and created inefficient schedules with significant idle periods. On one occasion, a transit flight booking caused confusion at check-in, and when we contacted the organizers for clarification, the response felt dismissive and included a comment suggesting we required “babysitting,” which we considered unprofessional. Guide quality varied considerably. Some guides had limited English skills and provided little historical or cultural explanation. During parts of the trip, guides repeatedly asked for personal contact details and engaged in flirtatious behaviour that made us feel uncomfortable during a guided tour. During the Danakil Depression tour, organizational problems caused us to arrive late at Erta Ale, meaning the hike took place in darkness and part of the experience was lost. Accommodation and overall service level did not reflect the premium expectations associated with a private tour. We shared our feedback with the organizers after the trip but unfortunately did not reach a satisfactory resolution. Ethiopia itself is an extraordinary destination, but we recommend future travelers clarify payment structures and the exact definition of a “private tour” carefully before booking.

En nuestra visita a Etiopia eramos 7 personas entre familiares y amigos. Nuestra elección de Inside Ethiopia Tours hizo que nuestra experiencia en este país fuera excelente. Primero las atenciones de Miriam, siempre dispuesta a darnos todas las informaciones por mail y luego nuestro guía que habla español, Abraham, era flexible y se adaptaba a nuestras solicitudes de cambios del itinerario y actividades que queríamos hacer. Somos viajeros que hemos visitado muchos países pero Etiopia tiene la autenticidad de un país no explotado por el turismo masivo, la gente es muy amable y hay muchas actividades diferentes para hacer. La joya de nuestro viaje fue visitar Lalibela en la navidad etíope y unirnos a los miles de feligreses que visitan las iglesias. Algo único e inolvidable. A dream came true thanks to Inside Ethiopia
I’ve been dreaming about visiting Ethiopia for many years and Finally I’ve had the opportunity to travel there in january 2026. I’m so happy I have chosen Inside Ethiopia to make my dream come true. They planned and organized a personalized package to meet my travel plan which included the Danakil Depression, the Tigray churches, Axum, and Lalibela. Excellent Tour agency for travel to Etihopia
My son and I traveled to Ethiopia during the Christmas and New Year holidays. While finalizing a tour company, we contacted several Ethiopian tour operators. Although Inside Ethiopia Tours was more expensive than other agencies, what immediately stood out was the speed and quality of their responses. Miriam from Inside Ethiopia was exceptional—every detailed query we had was answered with clarity and precision. Once the tour began, we found that everything they had promised was delivered one hundred percent. Those who have traveled in Africa know that things do not always go exactly as planned, and we too encountered some local challenges. However, Miriam and Binyam were always available, offering solutions rather than excuses. This is what truly sets them apart from other tour agencies. While in Danakil, I observed other travelers expressing dissatisfaction with arrangements made by their tour operators, which further highlighted the professionalism of Inside Ethiopia Tours. The local guides provided were also outstanding. Andy, our driver, was exceptionally attentive and always looked out for us. He ensured that our accommodation at the desert camp was set up in the best locations, complete with new mattresses, bedsheets, and blankets. Una agencia a la altura de un maravilloso país
Han sido 15 días recorriendo Etiopia.Un país fascinante. En el norte hemos quedados maravillados de Lalibela y sus iglesias,de Bahir Dar con el lago Tana y sus monasterios,y las preciosas cataratas del Nilo Azul, de Gondar con los castillos y sus impresionantes montañas, y la iglesia de la Trinidad una maravilla decorada primorosamente. En el sur,además de otras cosas, el lago Chamo y sus gigantescos cocodrilos,y sobre todo del valle del Omo con sus tribus,que te dejan enfrentado a un mundo que parece extinguido hace tiempo. No dejamos de observar, todo, con un asombro infantil. Alucinante la ceremonia del Ukuli Bula, el salto del toro de los Hamer. Un viaje extraordinario que ha sido posible gracias al equipo de Inside Ethiopia Tours. Quiero agradecer a Míriam, nuestra hada madrina,que desde el primer contacto, puso toda su experiencia y conocimiento,que son enormes, a asesorarnos, guiarnos y diseñar un viaje que ha salido perfecto. Y además todo el tiempo pendiente ,para que nada fallase. Y dar las gracias a Binyam,dueño de la agencia, presente con nosotros el primer y último día, y que somos conscientes de que puso trabajo y empeño en cuidarnos. The Unforgettable Mysteries of Ethiopia
Inside Tours offered us an amazing and unforgettable experience inside this beautiful country. We visited the Ono valley - Jinka and Turin and met the intriguing tribes of Ari, Mursi, Karo. We visited Aksum and learned about the Arc of Covenant. We went to Bahir Dar and the Blue Nile - what a mesmerising lake! We visited Gondar and Lalibela and their mystical churches. Our guide was simply amazing and not only did he teach us so many things about Ethiopia, he became our friend. The whole team was really great, friendly and reliable! Thank you Inside Tours!
