Day 1

Arrive at Bole International Airport. You’ll be met and transferred straight into the city. Morning visit to the National Museum to stand face-to-face with Lucy (Dinknesh) and other hominid fossils that tell Ethiopia’s origin story. Continue to Holy Trinity Cathedral, a dignified granite church where Emperor Haile Selassie and Empress Menen are buried. After lunch, dive into Merkato vast, chaotic, and utterly absorbing. Your guide will steer you through the spice alleys, coffee stalls, and recycled metal workshops without losing you. If time and energy allow, drive up to Entoto Mountain in the late afternoon for a view over the city. Overnight in Addis Ababa (hotel).

Day 2

Leave Addis early and drive west through Ambo to the Wenchi crater rim. The road climbs into highlands of barley fields and eucalyptus groves. At the rim, you can walk or hire a horse to descend the old trail to the lakeshore. A wooden boat takes you across the still green water to the island monastery of Cherkos, a small Orthodox church where monks have lived quietly for centuries. Soak your feet in one of the natural hot springs along the shore. By mid-afternoon, drive back to Addis. You’ll arrive at the airport in the evening in good time for your flight. End of tour.
